Phyllis Wheeler, “The Computer Lady” has added a fun title to her growing list of computer tutorials. Let’s Make a Web Page takes students ages eight to 12 through the process of creating and coding a Web page.
Although targeted to younger children, this is a title you will need to work through with your child. Part of the fun is working together to choose graphics, typefaces and styles and then design the page. If you have an Internet account, chances are you have space through your provider to post the page when you’re done.
Because the 60 page tutorial guides the student through the process using a free trial version of the Coffee Cup HTML editor, it’s a good idea to read through the tutorial and gather your thoughts before beginning. If you get hooked, no problem. You can register the editor for a nominal fee.
The Motherboard Books Web site also features other Wheeler books on computer science. If tech ed is important to your curriculum planning, Motherboard Books is a good first stop.
